Book Review #3- Perks of Being a Wallflower

I have wanted to read this book since the movie first came out, but for some reason, I kept forgetting about it. I finally got to read it; thanks to my niece, who was visiting for the summer and had the book in tow and let me borrow it. I devoured this book in a few days. It was very helpful that I had loaned the audiobook to read along with it. I got very, very little sleep reading this book; I stayed up late at night and woke up extremely early to read, and it was worth it.

Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

My Review:

I absolutely loved this book. I have been meaning to read this book for years; and this year I finally had the chance to. I honestly really wish I had read this way sooner.

This book was so real and deep. It felt as if Charlie was writing his letters to me, instead writing them his unidentified friend. Charlie was honest, sensitive, and shy; he is a “wallflower”. This was very emotional read for me. They were times that I was shocked, upset and there were times that I cried.

They were so many beautiful quotes in this book, but this one is my favorite.

“I was suddenly very aware of the fact it was me standing up in that tunnel with the wind over my face. Not caring if I saw downtown. Not even thinking about it. Because I was standing in the tunnel. And I was really there. And that was enough to make me feel infinite”

This book is definitely going on my list of one of my favorites of all time.
