September TBR List

I have endless books that have been on my TBR list for so long. It has alway been so hard to decide what I want to read first because I wish I could just read them all at once.

This month I am going to try for 7 books. Three of these books are from my BOTM collection. I have 12 unread BOTM books; and with September box coming in soon, I will have a total of 15 unread BOTM books. Oops…

My September To-Be-Read List:

  1. Rules for visting
  2. The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo
  3. Ask again yes
  4. How to walk away
  5. Things you save in a fire
  6. The Wedding Date
  7. The Wedding Party

The Wedding Date is part of a series. and somehow I managed to read the second book (The Proposal) in the series first, my bad… So this month I am going to try to read both the First and Third book to catch up; Hopefully in time by when the Fourth book is to be released.

The Wedding Date Series by Jasmine Guillory

Book One: The Wedding Date

Book Two: The Proposal

Book Three: The Wedding Party

Book Four: Royal Holiday (Will be Published on October 1st 2019)

Also, I will be posting two more reviews in this upcoming week, and also I will be posting my September BOTM box, when it comes in!

August Wrap-up

I am little disappointed in myself because I read way less than I wanted it too, but I am still glad that i was able to find time to read at all.

Being a SAHM to two toddlers is very exhausting. The only break I have is either in the middle of the night or very early in the morning while my kids sleep. But that means I will stay up until 3am and than I left with very very little sleep. But I wouldn’t change it any other way, I love my children to death and i will never change a thing.

Book One: Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

I got this book as a gift the year the movie was released and barley finished reading it, in the beginning of August. It was such a good book; they were so many things in the movie that were way different from the book. But thats okay, I really liked both versions. But I loved “Alex” character more in the book of course. (The book is always way better than the movie.)

Rating 4.5/5

Book Two: The Help by Kathryn Stockett

I also received this book the year the movie was released. I had received it for my book club, sadly the book club never went through, so I never got to read the book. So, fast forward years later, and after my book was found ( it went missing for two years) I finally got the opportunity to read it. And I just have to say, I absolutely loved this book. This book is now at the top of my list of my favorite books of all time. And I hate myself for watching the movie first, instead of reading this beautiful book first...

Book Three: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Honestly I began reading this book in high school, and I swear for life of me, I could not read pass chapter three. I don’t know why. I watched the movie a couple of year ago (the one with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire) and even than I couldn’t bring myself to read the book. So I decided to give it another try; So I loaned as an audiobook and tried to read along with it. I admit, there were some parts that confused me ( like I said, I’m a dummy…) but I overall liked it.

Book Four: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

I fell in love with the movie to this book, when it came out years ago. So I just had to read the book! I have been waiting to read this book for months, and I was so happy when I was finally able to read the physical book, and also listen to the audiobook at the same time. I had such high expectations for this book ,and of course, it way exceeded them. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Book Five: Tell me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

This book was so beautiful. I loved that the author Julie Buxbaum, wrote it a bit from her own personal experience. I loved that this anonymous person, who called themselves Somebody/Nobody or SN and the Main character Jessie, will every morning tell each other three things about themselves. It was so heartfelt that they had both kept count of the exact time of how long it has been since they had lost their loved ones.

Rating 4.5/5

Book Six: Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott,  Mikki DaughtryTobias Iaconis

Of course, I watched the movie before I read this book. But honestly, I had no idea this was even a book. (I know,I know, I’m a dummy…) I just knew that my niece really wanted to watch it, so we rented and,.. I loved it. When I learned it was from a book, I needed to get my hands on it. I went to Target (of course) and I bought it as soon as I could. It took me about a week to read, and I cried like a baby on some parts. It was such a heartfelt book; I am actually thinking of re-reading it..(which is rare, because I hate re-reading books)

Book Review #3- Perks of Being a Wallflower

I have wanted to read this book since the movie first came out, but for some reason, I kept forgetting about it. I finally got to read it; thanks to my niece, who was visiting for the summer and had the book in tow and let me borrow it. I devoured this book in a few days. It was very helpful that I had loaned the audiobook to read along with it. I got very, very little sleep reading this book; I stayed up late at night and woke up extremely early to read, and it was worth it.

Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

My Review:

I absolutely loved this book. I have been meaning to read this book for years; and this year I finally had the chance to. I honestly really wish I had read this way sooner.

This book was so real and deep. It felt as if Charlie was writing his letters to me, instead writing them his unidentified friend. Charlie was honest, sensitive, and shy; he is a “wallflower”. This was very emotional read for me. They were times that I was shocked, upset and there were times that I cried.

They were so many beautiful quotes in this book, but this one is my favorite.

“I was suddenly very aware of the fact it was me standing up in that tunnel with the wind over my face. Not caring if I saw downtown. Not even thinking about it. Because I was standing in the tunnel. And I was really there. And that was enough to make me feel infinite”

This book is definitely going on my list of one of my favorites of all time.

Book Review #2 – One Day in December

I have been watching Gilmore Girls for as long as I can remember, and I absolutely loved it. It one of my top 5 favorite shows of all time. I use to watch a lot of TV in high school. I would stay up for hours watching different shows or movies instead of doing my homework…

I was over the moon when I discovered Lauren Graham written a book about Gilmore Girls, and I loaned it through my Libby app both audiobook and ebook.

One Day In December by Josie Silver

My Review:

I loved, loved, loved this book! I listened to the audiobook, while I read the book. And listening to Lauren Graham, herself, reading it, makes it all the more better!

Lauren Graham talks about her life, from the very beginning, from moving from Hawaii, to living with her Dad on a house boat, to the events of her trying to become an actress, ending with “Gilmore Girls”.
One of my favorite parts: Where in one audition, she accidentally (not realizing until it was over) sang a sang about bass, pertaining the fish, not to about the bass pertaining to music. Oops!

She also talks about the original “Gilmore Girls” series and also about her filming the New series “Gilmore Girls: A year in the life”. I admit, listening to Lauren talk about her filming “Gilmore Girls: A year in a life” made me very emotional (Yes, I cried a bit). There were also parts that made laugh, and there were parts that made me feel connected to her, as if we were old friends catching up on life.

If you are a “Gilmore Girls” fan, I highly recommend this book for you!

My First Book Review!!!

This is the first book review I have ever written, and I am finally posting it!

(Better Late Than Never!)

My Review:

Laurie found the boy of her dreams, her soulmate, One snowy Day in December, when they locked eyes while she sat on the bus, leaving, as he sat outside at the bus stop, watching him disappear from her view…
For a year she searched and searched for her ‘soulmate’, with her best friend, Sarah , whom she considers as a sister. But than, the search ends, but not in a way Laurie ever dreamed of; Sarah finds him first, introducing him as her boyfriend, Jack. Sarah never realizes that Jack was the boy Laurie had been looking for all so long, since that snowy day at the bus stop.

Prepare yourself, for romances, heartbreaks, and painful losses. In this heartwarming story written by Josie Silver. Spanning through a decade, we journey through the friendships, relationships, and the bumps along the road, that Laurie, Sarah, and Jack endure.

Although the ending really had me yearning for more, I really liked this book. And I look for forward to reading more books by Josie Silver.
